Distribution
Endemic to mountainous areas of the Baguio and Bontoc regions of Luzon of the Philippines.
Habitat and Ecology
The known hostplants of this species are Zanthoxyllum and Euodia of Rutaceae. For more detail of biological information see Igarashi & Fukuda (2000).
Threats and Conservation Status
This species has facing serious stress from collecting and trading. Although captive breeding could be easy and helpful in releasing part of the threats, the processes and management of captive breeding in the Philippines have not yet been regulated by laws or practical policies, though some of the breeders have announced that their specimens are bred legally.
Remarks. Papilio hermeli has been regarded as a subspecies of P. chikae by several researchers though this proposal has not been formally published.
