英文俗名 Higgins' Eye Pearly Mussel, Higgins' Eye.

外殼特徵 Shell solid, inflated, gaping at the anterior base, ovalelliptical or subquadrate with a feeble posterior ridge, withfull, high beaks placed well forward. Surface withoccasional irregular growth lines but generally smooth andsomewhat shining. Left valve with two triangular, shortpseudocardinals and two heavy laterals; right valve with two,often three pseudocardinals, the middle one the largest, andone lateral, often having a vestige of another below it;muscle scars deep; beak cavities moderate, nacre silvery,flesh-color or salmon-tinted.
