全名 Tridacna maxima (Roding, 1798)

英文俗名 Great Clam, Rugose Giant Clam, Small Giant Clam.

外殼特徵 Shell reaching 36cm in length; elongate- toshort-obtuse-triangular in shape, moderately to stronglyinflated and having a large byssal orifice. Valves heavy,thick, colour usually greyish white but often tinged withyellow or pinkish orange. Primary radial sculptureconsisting of from 6 to 12 broads, moderately convexrib-like folds becoming crowded and obsolete on ventralslope. Usually 6 ro 7 of these folds are very strong.Concentric sculpture consisting of low scales on primaryfolds.

地理分布 East Africa to eastern Polynesia except Hawaii. Lives inshallow water on reefs, partially imbedded in coral.
