Body whorl weakly spirallyridged dorsally; columella smooth except for weak ridgeposteriorly; outer lip very broadly flared, thick or relativelythin, with a pointed posterior wing that equals or exceedsthe spire; margin of lip weakly crenulat; notch distinct.Spire tall, sharply pointed, with heavy projecting pointedknobs on all whorls; very high pointed knobs on shoulder.Columellar callus weakly developed, often tinged with deeppink; aperture deep pink within, white marginally. Shelllength 150-290mm.

備註 This species was listed in the CITES Appendix II on 11th June1992. The very large size of adults and very large pointedshoulder and spire knobs are distinct. Shells in specimencondition are difficult to find, although juveniles and〝souvenir〞shell of the Queen Conch are abundant. TheQueen Conch is a major food resources in the Caribbeanwhere it has been exploited by subsistance and commercialfisheries for centuries. In recent years overfishing hasdepleted populations in many areas, giving rise tointernational concern over the future of the Conch fishery.Photo-specimen was collected from the Caribbean Sea andinventory in Mr. Ren-chi Yeh。
